HTC Flyer

A good idea can take you anywhere, and HTC have created a tablet that can do the same. The HTC Flyer blends HTC’s trademark design language with an all-new HTC Sense user experience that has been re-imagined and re-designed for tablets. Using an intuitive and innovative approach to tablets, HTC Flyer combines natural touch and pen interaction. At a mere seven inches, it’s small enough to fit in your pocket, but with Android 2.3, the latest version of HTC Sense, and a whopping 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, it won’t be spending much time there! A five megapixel camera built into the back of the HTC Flyer captures your view of the world in stunning HD. And a front-facing camera captures your expressions when connecting with friends in video chat.

HTC Mozart

HTC Mozart
As one of the first mobile phones in the UK to feature Windows Phone 7, the HTC 7 Mozart is, without any doubt, one of the most exciting smartphones on the market. With an aluminium unibody shell, the HTC 7 Mozart is also one of the sexiest Windows Phone 7 handsets available, as well as one of the most feature-packed. Put simply, the HTC 7 Mozart is truly stunning.

Design - 9/10

The HTC 7 Mozart really makes you stand out, with a distinctive swooping design on the back, and an incredible feeling in the hand, thanks to the curvaceous aluminium unibody frame. Combined with the new generation of Super-LCD screen, and a body shape similar to the HTC Desire, and it leads to the HTC 7 Mozart being easily one of the best looking Windows Phone 7 handsets on the market.

Operating System - 8/10

The HTC 7 Mozart is, famously, one of the first batch of Windows Phone 7 devices to hit the market, and because of this, the same factors play into this as with any other phone running Microsoft's new mobile operating system. It's new and exciting, and it's arguably faster and more responsive than any other OS on the market, but it loses points for not having key features such as copy/paste, at launch. However, it is still worth investing in, as you will get these features in future software updates to the HTC 7 Mozart.

Hardware - 9/10

Make no mistake; when it comes to the camera and media, the HTC 7 Mozart is arguably the best Windows Phone 7 device available. The 8MP camera is incredible, and it features a proper Xenon flash, putting it streets ahead of any competing Windows Phone 7 device. Media playback is smooth and responsive, and accessing it is simple and intuitive through the Windows Phone 7 'hub' architecture.

Screen - 8/10

The only issue with the screen is something that affects virtually every mobile phone: daylight legibility. In direct sunlight, the screen on the HTC 7 Mozart is very reflective, lowering legibility, but in other lighting conditions, the Super-LCD shines, with a wider viewing angle than traditional screens, higher contrast, and better colour reproduction. It is, in short (and when in the right lighting conditions, a thing of beauty, but it loses marks for its legibility issues in direct sunlight.

Social - 9/10

As with all Windows Phone 7 devices, social networking is a key part of the HTC 7 Mozart experience, with Facebook being integrated particularly well, into the People hub. The email and text inboxes are also elegant in their simplicity, and are a joy to use, but it loses one mark for not having Twitter integration straight out of the box.

Overall - 9/10

The HTC 7 Mozart is an exceptional phone, and although there are still a couple of things going against it (lack of copy/paste at launch, memory card is non-changeable, no Twitter integration out of the box), HTC have done a sterling job in proving exactly what is possible with Microsoft's new mobile OS. Highly recommended!
